Church Building
St. Barnabas church is an important local
community resource, but for many years, while the focus was on
ministry and service within the community, no significant structural
repairs were undertaken. It is now necessary to undertake major
restoration and development. This is being done in 4 Phases. Phase 1
(high-level work at the east end, re-roofing of chancel and vestry,
and new rainwater goods) was successfully completed in August 2011,
and we are now fundraising for Phase 2 (stone and brickwork at the
west end, re-roofing south aisle, gutter and brickwork repairs on
south side) which will cost c. £250,000.
Meanwhile internal work is needed, especially
on toilets and entrance, to ensure the building functions properly
as the multi-use community space it now is, at the same time
maintaining the beauty of the interior and its distinctive identity
as a place of Christian worship.
We look to the Lord, from whom all good things come, confident that the necessary resources will be found, and glad to do what we can to ensure that the fine building we have been entrusted with will continue to offer glory to God and service to the community for years to come. THANK YOU to all for your support. God bless you.
